PT Buanatama Metalindo was formed in 1981 and was known as PD Sridjaja before changing its name and incorporation into a private limited liability company in 1988.

From the humble beginning, a small factory was built to produce filter products at Jalan Mangga Dua, an area within distance of Central Jakarta.

In 1987, PT Buanatama Metalindo new factory was constructed at current premise in Tangerang industrial area, a location approximately 30 km from Central Jakarta. Upon the completed construction of the factory, commercial production for filter products then started in 1989.

In 1986, the company registered "UNION" brand name for its manufactured filters and later in 1998 it registered "PROGUARD" brand name primarily for the production of heavy duty equipment filters.

In 1992, the company achieved its first export sales.

Since 1999, the company obtained ISO 9001 for achieving a Standard of Quality of Management Service.
